Yulia Yuzik

Yulia Yuzik was born in Donetsk in 1981. After completing her journalism studies she worked in the Rostov office of Komsomolskaya Pravda, became editor-in-chief and later moved to Moscow. She travelled to Chechnya in 2002 to produce the first, later award-winning, report on female suicide bombers. She left the newspaper following the attack on the North-East Theatre in order to be able to conduct independent research for this book. She has been working as a freelance journalist for the Russian edition of Newsweek and other publications since 2004. Together with her 4 children Yulia Yuzik lives in Moscow.
